Welcome to Sing Along Club!
Here at Sing Along Club, each month (or so) we all take a specified song, run off into our corners and record ourselves singing along with it, and then throw them into the melting pot, where they are mixed together into a communal anthem of the month.
All are welcome to throw their metaphorical hat into the metaphorical ring — All you need is some way to record yourself, and an email address. And if you’d just like to sit by and enjoy the before-and-after that will inevitably result, that’s cool too.
- Some of our past songs have been
-
- New York City by They Might Be Giants
- Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles
This project was inspired by an experiment by Canadian [one man] band Brad Sucks.

At the top of the voting for Round 1 is “My Freeze Ray”!
Just reminding you of a couple guidelines:
If you’re at all reluctant or self-conscious about the way you sing, don’t be.
I’m going to do my best to mix the track in such a way that everyone can be heard without anyone standing out, so that we sound as much like a community as possible.
Email your finished a capella tracks to singalongclub@gmail.com by 9:00 PT on November 1st.
Gentle suggestion for this particular song:
In the dialogue part, might I gently suggest that we split between males and females, with the men singing the Neil part and the women singing the Felicia part? Like
DUDES: “Love your hair.”
LADIES: “What?”
DUDES: “No – I ju – I love the – air… Huh!”
ALL: Anyway…
But please do not apply this gender split to the whole song, that would be foolish.
